September Events in Hull Worth Staying For
September is a great time to visit Hull. The city has a lot going on this month, so it’s worth noting what’s going on...
The Maritime Museum Is Back
This is the big one for September. Hull Maritime Museum reopened recently in August following a £20 million refurbishment, and the early response from visitors has been really strong. Over 3,000 people came through the doors on the opening weekend alone.
The museum covers 800 years of maritime history, telling Hull's story as a hub for trade, migration, fishing, and whaling. Around 1,300 objects are now on display, including interactive exhibits, maritime art, models, and a 40ft whale skeleton that dominates the space. Stories that have never been told publicly before are now part of the permanent collection.
It's free to visit and sits in the city centre, a short walk from Hideout. You can read more about the refurbishment in this piece from The Guardian.
Music & Comedy Events in Hull This September
Connexin Live and Hull New Theatre both have good nights lined up across the month.
On Sunday 6th September, Michael Ball brings his tour to Hull at Connexin Live. He has been one of Britain's leading musical theatre performers for over 40 years, with two Olivier Awards and a Grammy nomination to his name.
On Friday 18th September, Chris Ramsey comes to Connexin Live with his latest stand-up show. Known from The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show, Taskmaster, and the Shagged Married Annoyed podcast, he consistently puts on a good night.
Rounding off the month on Tuesday 30th September, Alan Davies brings Think Ahead to Hull New Theatre. He has been away from touring stand-up for the best part of a decade, and his last two UK tours sold out, so it's worth booking ahead.
NCS Hull Trading Card Show
On Sunday 13th September, Connexin Live hosts the NCS Hull Trading Card Show, with capacity for over 2,000 attendees. It covers Pokémon, Sports Cards, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, and more, with vendors from across the hobby all under one roof. It works for collectors at any level, from people just getting into it to those chasing something specific.
